ABOUT US

Children in School Bus

Our History

In 1999, Karen succumbed to cancer. Karen was a longtime resident of Cherry Hill, NJ and a passionate advocate for its schools and the children who attended them. As her own children attended school, so too, did Karen become more involved – participating in ZONE PTA and eventually serving on the Cherry Hill Board of Education from 1994-1997.

After her death, her family started the Karen Andes Rosenberg Sunshine Fund for Children, a non-profit organization to assist underprivileged schoolchildren. For a decade, the Fund endowed a scholarship at her alma mater, Drexel University, but also seeks to assist school students who require financial assistance during the school year.

The parameters of the Fund are rather all-encompassing; we seek to help students in any grade, school or academic level with in-school learning. We are guided by the administration of each school and trust any name put forth for assistance is a student in legitimate financial need
